Teach Something Unexpected.

Bring Your Craft. Share Your Expertise.

Create an Experience.

The Black Raven Marketplace Annex IX Classroom is building a rotating roster of talented instructors, artists, makers, craftspeople, and creative educators to bring distinctive hands-on workshops and educational experiences to our community. And you do not need to be a Black Raven Marketplace consignment vendor to teach with us. We welcome instructors from both within the Black Raven vendor community and beyond it. What matters is what you bring to the classroom—the strength of your craft, your experience as an instructor, and your ability to create an engaging experience people want to be part of.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for instructors who know their craft and know how to share it with others.

Ideal Annex IX instructors:

  • Have demonstrated experience teaching their craft, technique, or specialty

  • Are knowledgeable and confident in their area of expertise

  • Can lead an engaging, organized, hands-on experience

  • Have an established and active social media presence

  • Are comfortable promoting their workshops to their own audience

  • Offer something creative, unusual, artistic, educational, or unexpected

  • Are interested in collaborating with Black Raven to develop strong workshop experiences

Your specialty might involve traditional craftsmanship, contemporary making, dark art, natural curiosities, sewing, sculpting, jewelry, historical techniques, unusual materials—or something we haven't thought of yet.

You Bring the Expertise.

We’ll Help Develop the Experience.

You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly packaged curriculum. Some instructors come to us with an established workshop they’ve taught many times. Others have extensive teaching experience and a great concept that still needs to be developed into a structured class. We work collaboratively with our instructors to develop and refine workshops when needed. That can include thinking through the class format, curriculum, timing, materials, skill level, student experience, and what participants will create or take home.

How Instructor Selection Works

We believe the best collaborations start with a conversation—not an online form and an automatic approval. Potential instructors meet with us one-on-one, in person at Black Raven Marketplace. We’ll sit down together to learn about:

  • You and your brand

  • Your area of expertise

  • Workshops you currently teach or would like to develop

  • Your social media presence and audience

  • Materials, equipment, space, and setup requirements

  • Class size and skill level

  • Pricing and anticipated class length

  • How your offering fits the Annex IX Classroom and Black Raven community

This is also your opportunity to see the space, understand how Annex IX operates, ask questions, and determine whether we’re a good fit for each other.

What Could You Teach?

Annex IX programming can span a wide range of creative and educational experiences—from  crystals, astrology, apothecary, painting and drawing, sewing, clay and sculpture, candle making, jewelry, taxidermy and natural curiosities, and cabinets of curiosities to demonstrations, lectures, specialty techniques, and entirely new concepts. Those are examples, not boundaries.

We’re especially interested in hearing about ideas we haven't offered before. The Annex IX instructor community extends beyond our consignment vendors.

Ready to teach something unexpected?

Stop by in person or send up an email. Tell us about yourself, what you teach, your previous experiences, and the workshop—or workshops—you’d like to bring to Black Raven Marketplace. We’ll also ask you to share your website, social media accounts, and examples of previous classes or workshops so we can get to know you, your work, and your teaching style.
